Art Puppetry

I really need help. I'm doing my mock for art on monday and making a puppet,
But I don't know what i can do beforehand??
I know i stitch the clothes on in there and paint my clay hands and feet and head in there.

But can I have all the arms, legs and body stitched and stuffed separatly then connect them in there or what?
If you cant understand the question please just answer what we need to do before then in there, thank you very much
