Help - no sound from Hard Disk Recorder

I have a Philips DVD / Hard Disk Recorder and it has recently developed a problem. It is connected via Scart cable to my TV. I am able to record programs from my satellite receiver but when I play it back it plays the audio from the channel currently selected on the satellite receiver. It does this with all recordings including ones that played back perfectly previously. I have replaced the scart cable and also connected to a different scart socket on the tv, but the problem remains. Any ideas of where the problem lies?. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I have to replace the Hard Disk Recorder, is it possible to transfer my recordings to the new one?
