Data protection

A mate of mine went to one of them Social welfare group sessions don't know if it was TUS/les or what ever. They gave him a form with all his details on it from their system. Now here is the issue this is a 3rd party quango Southside partnership running the follow up interviews. There is a section at the back to do with Social welfare (consolidation) Act 2005

Section 8 of this form states

Data protection act & declaration (which must be Signed)
the department of social protection and /or its servants and /or agents may process all information and personal data provided by me for the purposes of the social welfare (consolidation) act 2005 and / or for the administration and control of the schemes administered by or on behalf of the minister or the department of social protections. I understand that the information and personal data provided by me will not disclosed otherwise than in accordance with law.

Now this seems to be saying you have to sign yes to them sharing it with the Department of Social welfare, Now the question is does this have to be Signed as their asking you to give consent to share your personal data. If it was the law they would not be asking you to sign this otherwise in regards to Data protection as it would already be shared between departments. It looks like their trying to catch people out that don't for example take any random Corse or jobbrige offer off this crowd who will then once you have signed this inform the Social welfare office.

Does he have to sign it ?

    Not a state benefits matter.
