USB Dual Tuner for PC Recommendations?

I've been using the MobiDTV Dual tuner originally recommended (and then de-recommended) by watty for almost 3 years now and it's still doing the job and working ok with the two muxes.
However I'd like to get a backup as it will probably fail at some point.

This ClimaxDigital Dual DVB-T stick seems to be about the only dual tuner I can find. I've no idea if it's any good or not but will probably take a punt on it unless someone could recommend a good dual tuner USB stick for the PC?

WinTV-Nova-TD would be one of the more common choices for a dual DVB-T USB tuner.

That records to MPEG-2 according to the blurb.
The MobiDTV stick recorded to a .ts file

For some reason I associate the MPEG-2 with analogue quality. Or have I mis-understood that?

You're mixing up the video compression format and the signal modulation.

Saorview uses MPEG4 video compression for both SD and HD channels, and uses DVB-T signal modulation.

Since USB PC tuners generally only handle the signal modulation part, then any DVB-T compatible dual tuner will suffice for your needs. The video decompression is handled by the PC with the appropriate software/codecs.

What software package do you currently use?

You're fine so. DVBViewer will work with any DVB-T tuner that has generic BDA drivers.

For anyone that may be interested in dual tuners the ClimaxDigital tuner is rubbish. Extremely unreliable for recording so it's going back to amazon.
