I am watching it here and, while I like watching it ,I have not got a clue ? Could somebody explain in Laymans terms in 100 words what its about ?
Example, Why does one team just not kick between the bars when they are within range ? like GAA ?

Why does one team just not kick between the bars when they are within range ?

Because it's not usually worth taking the chance. They could easilly miss and end up giving possession away.

At all times the objective is to try hug the lads in the other jerseys, a scrum is where they get in a huddle and try to kiss one another and a ruck is where they get in a big dog pile and start pulling the sausage off each other.

Oh and chase a ball around sometimes too.

The object of the game is that two teams of fifteen players each, should score as many points as possible, by carrying, passing, kicking and grounding the ball with the team scoring the greater number of points being the winner of the match. It is classified as an 'end zone invasion game'. The aim of each team is to gain possession of the ball, take it into opposition territory and to place it in the in-goal area (end zone). Rugby is a game of continuous flow, there is constant competition for the ball at the breakdown, these are called Rucks.

It's a game played by men with odd shaped balls.

From play the ball must touch the ground and then be kicked for goal i.e. a drop-kick.

You can't just kick the ball out of your hands like in GAA.

Rugby Union is a fantastic sport.

Anybody want to try explaining what happens when the ball goes over the sideline, ie: what dictates who gets to throw it back in?

You only keep possession for a line out, when you kick it over the sideline, if you do so from a penalty.

But why does it seem to matter if the ball bounces or not before going over the sideline?

If you're kicking outside your own 22 yard line the ball must bounce before crossing the sideline or it will be brought back to where it was kicked from for a scrum to the opposition.

It has to be a drop kick to get the 3 points. This is very hard to do.

And even harder when a big lump of muscle and bone is coming at you like a bad tempered Rhino (I'd imagine).
