    Hi all,

I'm looking to book flights to Boston in August and then fly back from New York to Dublin.

Would you guys recommend booking directly through Aer Lingus, expedia, etc or maybe going to a travel agent?

Also, when would be the best time to book? All the flights at the moment are working out about €700-€800.

    Regards

    Norman

I'd check skyscanner - I find them the best for prices etc & for good options.

I respectfully disagree with the above post. People act like Skyscanner is the "be all and end all" of searching for flights these days. Since the OP wants to depart from a different city than he's arriving in, Skyscanner is pretty useless.

I suggest checking out www.kayak.ie. On the main page you will see three tabs: "one-way", "return" and "multi-city". Click "mulit-city". This allows you to group several one-way flights together on the same ticket there saving you a bundle. I did a quick search departing Dublin on Aug 12 and returning Aug 19. The two cheapest results are posted below. Once again US airways are the cheapest but they're a horrible airline. I'd pay a little extra and fly with BA. Any other questions, ask.

750 return booked directly with Aer Lingus- you can book multi-city on their website. It's unlikely a travel agent would be able to make any cheaper

one flaw with the above - you have to change airports from JFK to LGA which would be impossible to do with 1.5 hours.

Sklyskanner don't offer open jaw options - always book with the airline direct.

^^^^ What are you talking about?

The OP wishes to arrive into Boston and depart via New York.
Option 1: With US Airways, he enters via BOS and departs via LGA.

Option 2: With British Airways, he enters via BOS and departs via JFK.

There is no transfer between JFK and LGA involved. It's one or the other.

Personally I think the ITA Matrix is best for this type of flight, you can't book through it but it will identify the cheapest fares for you.
