    Hi,

I have joined CI and have a racing license.
The calendar has a list of events but how do I enter?
How do I find out where it's on/ what the course is?

Sorry if I appear naïve but no-one in Cycling tells me anything and the CI calendar just lists events, there are no other details...

"Same sign on as last year"

I'm not joking. I found this incredibly frustrating when I started racing.

Some events are advertised on the promoting clubs' websites and some now email flyers to clubs.

You'll probably find as much as you can about individual events, particularly in Leinster, here on Boards. Some promoting clubs don't even have websites, or if they do they can be hopelessly out of date. Posters often start threads on specific races either providing details or asking for them, and there are plenty of regulars that tend to either have the relevant info or know how to get hold of it

On the specifics of entering, Ulster have pre-registration as their races are limited in numbers (with an absolute maximum of 80, but it can be less on some courses). A4 and A3 races in Ulster tend to sell out very quickly (often in hours). They do have a good website, www.cyclingulster.com, that provides all the relevant details

Elsewhere it tends to be registration on the day at a place specified by the promoting club - again in many cases details will be posted here. There is also the option of pre-, online, registration for clubs, although I'm not aware of many clubs availing of this

You will need to bring your CI Licence (or a copy of your registration if not received), and sign-on will close at a specified time (which can vary for different races, depending on format). People basically turn up, sign on then use the time before the race to warm-up

I'm the same. It is almost like a closed little club.

If you're coming from a triathlon background you'll feel like you have jumped back in time.

The calender will give you the name of an event, some trawling will usually let you find details from previous years.

Have to agree. When i started i was brought along by ppl in the know. The calendar is crap but if you also keep an eye out on stickybottle you should see event details

Join a club. Do some club league races. Members in the club will let you know re: entering events.
