Simple solution to regaining RTE2, TV3......

    I've been here before. Sigh.
Long story short: got a walker box last August. All terrestrial channels tuned in no problems. In October, lost RTE2, TV3, TG4, 3e and RTE news now. However, I was then receiving RTE1 in wonderful HD. Seemingly there are 2 MUX's (?) now in operation.
this wasn't such a big issue over Christmas etc as we do have SKY in the living room, however with all day rugby on for the next few Saturdays, another access to RTE2 is essential.
When I tried a first time Installation during the week, lo and behold didn't ALL of the channels tune in!!!! However, the same channels that had been originally lost (RTE2 etc) have now been lost again. Still with me?
Now when I try an Terrestrial Automatic Scan, I can get RTE1(HD), RTE junior and RTE + 1 only, however, on the Terrestrial Automatic Scan screen I get a number of more channels which come up as hidden (I am presuming these hidden channels are RTE2 etc.

Is there a simple way to fix this??

Aerials are in attic and unaffected by recent weather.

Help. Rugby match at stake here.

The problem is that your receivers just aren't getting a good enough signal: could be some localised fault in the aerial system, such as a bad connection but, more than likely just overall poor signal levels due to incorrectly located aerials. Attic aerials won't work everywhere.

Having the aerial in the attic means it is lower down than if it is on a pole on the chimney or gable: higher is generally better. Also the roof &/or walls will attenuate the signal.

Take a look at this article for tips on attic installations, you might be able to find improvement without needing to go outside.

    Thanks for that Peter
Went to the attic and one of the aerials was indeed being obstructed but the chimney breast, so moved that. And did a re scan. Good news and bad news.
The terrestrial scan is picking up all of the "lost" channels, however, these channels are heavily pixilated and almost unwatchable.
Do you reckon another move of the aerial might help?

It helps if you can see some indication of signal quality while you're moving the aerial, maybe a small TV you can get into the attic.

If this isn't feasible, just try getting the aerial as high as possible in the roof space, while still allowing it to be aligned in the transmitter direction with an unobstructed view.

    Back to square one :(
Have lost whatever channels I had gained after moving the aerial.
Tried a re scan again and RTE2 etc are once again hidden?????.

I was assuming in all this, that you know the best transmitter (maybe just from trial & error) & you have the right aerial for the job?
