Was the Mk3 Mondeo SCi sold in Ireland or where they imported from across the way ?

Currently there is only one on Donedeal which makes me wonder...

Also are they worth keeping an eye out for or is they very little difference between the Zetec model ?

Have been considering a Mondeo as they seem to appear better then there equivalents and I only do 13k km a year so diesel isn't worth it.

    I dunno, thats why I'm asking :)

All I know they are six speed and have 130 bhp.

I would love to look at a 1.8 Accord but insurance is much higher. I would never buy a older Vag petrol and the Avensis is just a bit meh.

The Mondeo 1.8 SCi was sold here, in Ghia trim. They came with a lot more kit than the Zetec model including leather, cruise control, etc. They were expensive when knew and were only sold for about 2 years before being dropped. Most of them seem to have come in maroon colour too.

I test stove these a number of times and loved them. Couldn't agree in price. What was so bad about them?

They were a crap attempt at a petrol direct injection by most accounts.

The sci or the 1.8 in general ?

The SCi was the only direct injection petrol they had in that Mondeo.

So the 1.8 125bhp would be the more wise option ?

Apart from being a crap attempt at direct injection what was poor about them? I always found them lively.

The early direct injection petrols suffered from carbon build up if they were driven around town for too long.

There are products that can cheaply rectify this problem. This is one such product for removing carbon build up in a direct injection petrol engine, and a hell of a lot cheaper than getting the engine decoked the old fashioned way.

Test drove one when the aul fella was looking at one three years ago. Nice spec and features, 6sp box and plenty of gizmos but when we researched the engine it became apparent that there was plenty of problems with injectors, egr valves and fuel consumption was never as good as advertised

He bought a 2l zetec mondeo which he kept for 6 or so months in the end.
