New Build-Builder to roof level only ?

Any thoughts on the idea of getting a contractor to bring a new build project to roof level and all other associated ground works on a 2700sq foot build, and then sourcing your own tradesmen to finish the job by going direct labour ????. Thanks in advance for all opinions
