....from the year they joined Boards.ie?

Its probably only me but I always look at what year the person joined and use this to get a full picture of that person before replying or making any comment.

I always assume post 2009 is early 20's and any later is late teens.

Anyone care to guess my exact age?

Well boards started in 1999 or thereabouts. People that signed up in the first few years would be early adopters and probably a mix of ages as boards got more popular more would join but I would guess that with each year you would get a larger number of younger generations using boards than older ones.

I would love to know some statistics actually because I always think the later the person joined boards.ie the younger they are (as in a higher % will be younger).

Your spot on and I had to check my profile to see if my DOB was there and it is not. Just random guess?

Checked your join date, thought to myself that the average sign up age is 18-19 (probably isn't), took the latter.

If you go through their post history you can build a good picture of the boardsie. Their age, interests, where they live, family, job etc. That sounds creepy doesn't it? :D

Or you could out and out stalk them.

    But the point still stands.

I guess their age based on whatever scrap of info I have on them to give an appropriate response. Of course some topics it does not matter what age the person is but some it does. I have on one occassion search through post by one boardsie to get a better idea of the person before responding. Funnily enough when I did read through I discovered the person was a troll so did not reply.:)

If you cut your monitor in half while you have their public profile open and then count the rings, you'll find out their age. Simples.

I doubt anyone over the age of 12, maybe 13 would start a thread like this! :P

    Guess mine OP?

    Your logic is flawed!!

Ok I havent been following my own logic at all.

deftlefthand by my logic you would have definitely been early 20's but because you had such a huge amount of posts 6k+ I thought you were one of those "late adopters" that literally found the holy grail of verbal outlets and had to make up for lost time.

I wont make that mistake the next time.:)

billymitchel based on the year you joined I would initially assume late teens but like DEFTLEFTHAND you have 2k posts so use the forum regular enough and might be making up for lost time.

I would put you in the mid to late 40's also just based on those two pieces of info.

You're either a stalker or you're trying to find users in a certain age range to sweet talk them by PM.

Why do you base your reply on a persons age?

Why do you base your reply on a persons age?

It's a weird one I know but it completely depends on the topic. I used to post in the religious and science forums a lot so you would get a lot of naive questions and responses and be wondering what age the person was. I just looked towards the year they joined as a pointer and then I would probably tone my responses a bit more gently.

No one could possibly guess my age.

3000 posts at least get it right. 3000 in 3 years isn't much in fairness. I go through spells were it would be my first site and post loads of BS other times I wouldn't even think of coming here.

    You are miles off BTW.

    Are you high?

I've found naievity is not restricted to younger people. Especially regarding religion. Your start date theory is dubious. On that basis you would go easy on me thinking I was a teen. Way off the mark :)

Like that would happen on here

ETA: I thought DEFTLEFTHAND was 37-40!
