The first UK Open qualifier of the year is being held today in Wigan with two more being held over the weekend.

It is currently at the 3rd round stage but there have already been three big talking points. Firstly there has already been two 9 darters hit today, one from Dave Ladley and one from Terry Jenkins.

There was a battle of the World Champions in the second round as Van Gerwen and Stephen Bunting played each other with MvG winning 6-3.

Probably the biggest talking point so far though is the fact that Taylor was well beaten in his first match by Keegan Brown 6-2. He has clearly messed around with his game too much after the past few weeks and is way off form at the moment. It's going to make for an interesting year.

Stephen Bunting wins his first Pdc title today beating Andrew Gilding 6-5 in todays final in Wigan . Picking up a nice €10.000 for his troubles.

Good performance by Daryl Gurney in this, getting to the quarter final and beat MVG along the way. Taylor lost in the semi final to Gilding.

Taylor hits two 9 darters today, including a 9 darter in the last leg of the final to beat Lewis and claim the title.

    His slump didn't last long!

I wonder if he's used to the new darts yet?

I would say Mardle is creaming himself.

Cracking final there in the Dutch Masters with MVG beating King 6-4 both playing brilliant and averaging 108.8 and 107.4.

Watching the Dutch Masters at the weekend and I couldn't help but notice the almost indifference of the home fans when there was no dutch player involved. In the semi-final between King and Wright there was a deathly silence. The might be a bit too raucous in the UK but at least there is a bit of atmosphere for all the games and not just the home players.
