Which is better, when is comes to using your mobile phone for cycling?
"Map my Ride" or "Strava" ?

If you're interested in comparing your time to others' or to your own previous times then definitely strava.
Otherwise it doesn't really matter, IMO.

If it's for cycling only, then strava

If it's for multi sport, then I'd prefer something like Endomondo

Strava... I only use Map my Ride to plot new routes that I can send to the app. If the Strava route creator allowed you to do this I'd use only Strava.

Some people find that the Strava app crashes frequently. In that case you might be better served by a generic GPS tracker, such as Open GPS Tracker (Android). Provided you use the same email for your Google account as you do for Strava, you can upload the file by simply emailing it to upload@strava.com.

Cheers for the advice. Neither are much use at the moment with the weather being so crap....getting "cabin fever" and seriously board training on an exercise bike. Tried a short spin out the other day, got soaked, nearly blown off the bike and came home covered in s##t!
    Just ordered mudguards....

I use ridewithgps for mapping routes and exporting to my gps, Strava for logging all my running and cycling activity.

I can get MapMyRide to work on my phone but Strava does. However the comment from Diggabot is spot on as New Routes from Strava is only in a Beta stage of development
