Connecting yamaha dgx-620 to ipad

Looking to see if anyone has successfully connected the dgx 620 to an ipad.
I see they have this device: http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/accessories/usb-midi/i-ux1/?mode=model&vmode=pc&tab=support&_ga=1.2352496.1723455666.1391600069
But it costs in and around €80 and I'm not sure if it would work even after getting it as I don't see a compatibility list for the device.
The connection to the keyboard that you have to use to connect is the same as a printer connection, I think it's called a USB AB connection.
To make it phisically connect I could probably use an ipad camera connection and a printer cable but I'm not sure it this would work either?

I use the iPad camera connection adapter (USB one) to connect an M-Audio MIDI controller keyboard to my iPad (for Garage Band) and it works great, but I couldn't say if it will work with your particular device.

thanks for the reply I'll give it a go with just the camera kit first. I have a feeling, judging by the absolutely rediculous price of that yamaha cable that it's not going to work without it.

Hi everyone

I successfully connected my yamaha dgx-620 to my iPad air! I used a normal usb printer cable and the "lightning to usb camera adapter". There are some cheap ones on ebay. No need to buy the way overpriced yamaha cable!
Seems like apple built the driver for the yamaha keyboard into the iPad. It recognizes midi signal from the keyboard.
