Stages in waxing / polishing / claying

    Guys,

I got an autoglym detailing kit off my brother for Christmas. It has a rake of stuff included for treating the interior and exterior.

I'm a total amateur so please excuse my stupid questions:

I know the first thing to do is to wash and dry the car, but what order is polishing / waxing / claying done?

    I have the following products:

    > HD Wax (with damp applicator)
    > HD Cleanser
    > Super Resin Polish
    > Clay Bar Kit

I also have other pieces such as for cleaning the windows, tyre dressing etc.

I'm guessing- Clay, Polish then Wax, in that order?

Another question - how long does a typical layer of wax last in these conditions? I drive the car about twice during the weekday and do about 400km at the weekends.

    Thanks

Wash, Clay, Clranser, Polish & Wax.

HD Wax is very good. Two or three layers of it should last you 4-5 months provided you wash the car with wax safe shampoo....wax safe shampoo is one that is pH neutral so iy doesn't strip the wax.

Thanks for the reply Curran. Very helpful. I put a light single layer of the HD Wax last week on the car after a good wash and dry. I didn't have time for a Clay or Polish (more so I didn't know what order!!) but I will be doing this next time.

I last washed my car (aside from the occasional hose down to clean off heavy muck and salt) back in November and protected it with HD wax. Aside from dirt causing water to stick rather than bead, it's still doing pretty well. Can't complain.
