    Hi folks,

I'm having a new logo designed for my energy related business... which do you think works best?

    A:
    ER_new_o.jpg

    or B:

    ER_new.jpg

You might think they're both naff... but if someone put a gun to your head and told you to choose between the two, then which one?

Ignore the slight colour difference between the 2.

    I'd go with B.

In either case if I were you I'd look for a way to make the 'E' slightly more prominent. As it is the 'R' looks like it has two arms sticking out (from a distance anyway)

I wouldn't pick either of them to be honest. The top part you cannot make out the E enough.

The wording below the ER on the first line the font is very similar to helvetica/arial and then a couple of the letters have been tweeked to look rounded i.e. the E and F.

Then the second line is a completely different font which is either gillsan or futura.

Maybe get it tweeked a bit use the same font on both lines and change the ER logo so you can make out the E more.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I provide a very niche service, so no one will be looking at this without already knowing about the business and what it does... it's most important that it looks well on a busines card, on a report and on the website.

I was just messing around, Don't know if any of these logos are any use to you? Don't mind the colors, they my show up different depending on your monitor.

I would go with A, but that could be because it's the first one I saw.
The mind plays tricks like that on you you know!

    Best of luck with it.

The first of Valdez's is, in my humble opinion, very suitable.

That's brilliant. I think with a slightly stronger typeface we'd have a winner.

That works on so many levels.

Just shows why bouncing ideas of others is vital.

To me, as a non designer, but as the partner of a designer, I would say A is way ahead in style and aesthetics. Like it a lot actually.

Go out into the street and ask 50 people. Get a wider sample.

... or pick the one you like.

Oh yeah! We should totally get that back up and running. Or is that in another forum now? Used to piss myself daily at that thread. And because it was contributed to almost exclusively by people still awake at 4am it made for wonderful breakfast reading.

I would go for option A. It's more creative and you can tell you put a bit of thought into it. option B reminds me of some thing. Looks like a railway logo or something

The name of the company needs to be of the same type family as the ER (particularly the R) in the logo.

The typefaces used aren't great, TBH.

I think the incorporation of the lightning bolt within the E is imaginative, but it's still not working.

    Good luck.
