Have an MDS here for a good few yrs. changing it in the nxt few wks, and will def go for a Rauch again, very happy with it. Hopper in my present one is completely rotten, hence the need to change, but has a lot of fert spread over the yrs. Dont know anything bout the Axis, so I'm looking forward to more replies to ur thread!

    have a Kuhn mds 935 d2

    takes 2 tonne

    bought in 2004

    no hassle with it

spray it with diesel after every use and its like the day it was made

Thanks for replys, I have an MDS myself already but im thinking of grading up for automatic border control in particular. Theres a possibility of wider spread widths and fancier add ons with the axis including gps flow rate control etc etc but being a grassland man only im not sure if all that is justifiable given that any fertiliser savings would be cancelled out for some time with the initial cost

Difference with the border control is that you dont have to hug the ditch with ,one side switched off ,you can lower this deflector hydraulically and spread a standard width from the ditch while getting accurate amount spread right to the ditch. It saves a pass and saves getting up and down from cab to manually shut one side off

do you not have double hydraulic shutoff

I just turn off one of the outlets on one side and throw the fertiliser out into the field

    then open them all hydraulically;)

Manual shut off on the current machine one of the main reasons i'm changing. Has anyone experience of using an Axis machine because i'm not convinced about the hopper emptying evenly as there are two compartments ? Salesman says no one has ever complained to him about this but i cant see how it can be avoided?

I have a border control on an Amazone and to be honest only it came on it I wouldn't bother with the extra to have it fitted.

do you not use the border control?

Oh yea, but wouldn't spend the money to add it had it not been on spreader originally. I changed spreader last year and it was no the new aswell
