Peugeot 206 - is my clutch on the way out??

    Hi Folks

I drive a 2004 206 and in the last couple of days the clutch has gotten a lot stiffer. This is particularly noticeable a) with the engine off and b) on the last 20% of the travel when changing gears obviously.

Do you know if this is symptomatic of the clutch failing? Anything I can do other than change it?

    Thanks all!

drive it in a higher gear, 4th or 5th and give it full throttle at around 3k rpm, if the revs go up but you feel no pull or gain in speed the clutch will be slipping, if it doesnt slip the clutch is fine, its serving its purpose, you could also try going up a hill also to test clutch slip.

i think one of the really early signs of a clutch failing is it juddering, not being able to pull off smoothly

Thanks for that. I have noticed the 'pick up' in the higher gears is poor but I'd put it down to the car being a breathless 1.1! And it has started juddering a bit alright. Sounds ominous.

I checked micksgarage and see clutches aren't mental money. Any idea of labour cost at an Indy? Thanks again
