so this house I bought a year ago has a tiled shower in an otherwise painted main bathroom , the tiles are at best outdated and at worst plain ugly ( their light blue ) , I plan to fit a door in shower so the tiles will not really be that noticeable unless your inside the shower , ive been told its not possible to fit new tiles over old ones and stripping them off might result in damage to the wall , not unrepairable but all this adds to cost

so I was wondering , were I to leave this shower with the old tiles and tiled the rest of the bathroom with a large white tile , would the contrast be a mess ?

to summarise , has anyone ever heard of two different tile colours in a bathroom ?

You can definitely tile over existing tiles if they are well stuck to the wall. I know someone who did this.

If you plan to tile the rest of the room, without changing the shower tiles, I think the tiles should be the same size to look right. If you have a spare tile from the shower take it to a tile shop for advice.

I'm not a fan of fully tiled bathrooms as tiles, like everything, date and it's a hell of a job to change a fully tiled room. A tin of paint is cheap.
