Depends on where you go and when you go. I was at the Ballymun one with my niece just before Christmas around 11ish. We, well, she really, waited a little under an hour to be seen. Once she presented her paperwork at the hatch, she was done and dusted in about 2 mins. I have heard of people being in and out in 15 mins if they go very early in the morning, just after they open. I have also heard of people being there most of the afternoon, if they leave it until later in the day. It all depends really.

Just ensure you have everything listed here under what you need to bring.

I spoke with one lady who had to queue over 30mins and after arriving at hatch found that the bill she brought verifying her address was over 6months old so she had to leave; return and queue again - not at all happy!

Once you have everything you personally need, then they won't hold you longer than 5mins at hatch veryifying details; taking payment; taking your photo and asking for your signature. Be mindful of mid-day/lunch time for everyone incl themselves. Early morning or late evening could be best. Also be mindful of closing time and ensure you are in at least 45mins before that. If they have a queue inside by that time, they will close the door to ensure they get through all inside in reasonably close-to-closing time as possible.

    Hope that helps,
