    Hi guys,
    I've attached some pics.

I think this is mould growing but i'm not sure.
We've just finished putting an extension onto this room, the mould was there before work began.
The issues are in the old room corner. The wall is north facing and always cold.

There was an old wardrobe here but when i took it down, there was this mould stuff behind it. I'm wondering is it a ventilation issue, as outside, all seems ok. No signs of damp, leaking gutters or a roof issue.

Plus, if it was the rood or gutters, surely the issue would be the entire way down the inside wall.

    Any advice or suggestions welcome.....Thanks!

Looks like mould to me. Have a search in this forum to see how to deal with cleaning it first. Probably a ventilation issue.

    Thanks wait4me.
I've searched the forums, but its mostly about cleaning the mold off.
Does cleaning it off actually made a difference?

I'd tend to agree with you about the ventilation issue.

I assume an outside vent would help the situation yeah?
On picture 5, i could vent one on the right hand wall,
Would that help do you think?
    Ta.

Cleaning the mould off the walls is the first essential step.
Mould will only grow if the conditions are right, such as moist air, lack of ventilation and lack of sufficient heat.
To prevent the mould returning you have to change the conditions.
Get a vent installed, that will help with air circulation.
Get a decent dehumidifier and run it with the doors and windows closed.
    Heat the room.
Dry lining the external wall with insulated plasterboard would make a huge difference.

If you've recently got the extended part of the room plastered there will be residual moisture in the air from the plaster drying out, also.
And maybe pull up the carpet in that corner and see what's going on below the skirting board....can you see signs of dampness there?

    Ok. Thanks rancid.

I'll clean it tonight with vinegar as recommend on other forums and also drill a hole and put in a vent for circulation.

    Thanks for the advice.
Would imternal insulated plasterboard work I wonder. I'm putting a wardrobe in front of it so it wouldn't need to be plastered.

    Thanks.

I'd seriously suggest using a mould killer such as the HG anti mould spray, it will kill the mould, not just clean away the visible signs of it.

You'd really have to do the entire wall with insulated plasterboard to make a proper job of it. It's anything from an inch to 2.5 inches in thickness depending on how much insulation you opt for, so you can't really just do the section of wall behind the wardrobe.
