Wheel rebuild

It seems as though the rear rim on my old racer has finally packed it in. I want to build a new wheel for it using the existing hub.

My first question is, what size rim and spokes will I need; I understand that spokes are shorter on the drive side too. The current rim takes 700c, 23c tyres.

Secondly, where is a good shop, physical or online, to find such a rim at a reasonable price. I don't need the highest quality rims going or anything, just something solid that can take everyday use. My preference is for black rims and spokes.

This was posted in a thread I had up yesterday about something similar

Keep the zonda's you got a great deal on them. You'll get a 36 hole Mavic open pro rim for €45-50. You can get it built for about €30 with another €20 for spokes. Dara in Beecycles comes highly recommended.

What about these Mavic Open Sport Road Rims, €33.50 from CRC.

I'm looking for a pair of them 700cc, 36 hole.

Can anyone recommend a good spoke and nipple rebuild set? Preferably in black. Is it difficult to work out what size spokes I will need?
