I've an opportunity to buy a Canon Eos 1000D cheap, it has no lens, but I have a 35 mm film Eos 3000v, will the lens from this also fit the 1000D?
Also is it a good Camera? Thanks

10-40D, 300-450D, and 1000D can use both EF and EF-S lenses.

F, FD lenses can no longer be used with the new Canon DSLR cameras. The old lenses aren't designed and suited new DSLR's sensor and mechanics.

I'd imagine the lens on your 3000v isn't of great quality but it will work.

Great little started camera, if you are really into photography and use it nearly every day you may outgrow it's limitations fairly fast so you should probably start a little higher in the line (in which case look for a second hand 450D or 500D as they are a lot better).

Personally I had a 1000D first and I taught myself the basics and shot nearly every day for about 6 months after which I bought a 500D because I really felt the limitations of the camera's ISO and speed nagging at me.
I still have the 500D 4 years later going strong.

    Build quality wise:
    Pros: small, light

cons: very plasticy, main board prone to failure (I repair cameras so I've seen this one a lot).

If you are just casually taking up photography and getting a good deal of less than €130 for it with a low shutter count then I would recommend just getting a 450D or 500D (500D if you can stretch).
The 1000D shutter is only rated to about 50K so if the camera is well used it may be near the end of it's life.

    I hope that helps.

If it is working I would think it is a snip at that price, it is a few years old but still up to the job. Have a look at the link from 2008 when that camera was released. > http://www.dpreview.com/news/2008/1/24/canoneos450d

If it's in good condition that's pretty good.
