    I was separated from my clubs today (had to make space in the boot and leave them at the in-laws) and I have to say I was anxious. It got me thinking, if I wanted to buy all 14 clubs again, like for like-ish, how much would it cost shopping on ebay for them, so I checked it out;

    Adams Super S Driver £89
MENS NIKE VRS 3 WOOD £59
MENS NIKE VRS 5 WOOD £59
    Cleveland Mashie 4H £114
    CLEVELAND CG16 TOUR 4-pw £199
    Cleveland CG15 54 £43
MD Golf Norman Drew 58 £25
    Odyssey White Ice 2-Ball £69

    £657 or €790

So how much would your bag cost on ebay?

I just used ebay Uk & ireland only, buy-it now and cheapest one, and I didn't take into account custom fittings, shafts etc and only 14 clubs, just a ballpark figure for fun.

I would buy used set that has not been used much from donedeals or some other web site

It was just for fun, not actually suggesting how I would buy my full bag if I needed to.

Years ago (90's), living in London I loaned my clubs to a friend who was playing in Scotland. His car and more to the point my clubs were stolen. Though the insurance stumped up the cash, it was a very traumatic. It is the only time in your life you will change all your clubs at once. If you think Rory had it tough in switching to Nike, its nothing to what its like for a casual hacker.....

    570 Euro

Can't believe how quick the price of clubs depreciate. Well I'd did know , but that exercise shows you how daft the money you spend on clubs is. Worse than a car in depreciation terms.

Some of the stuff is over 1/2 the price in a year.

So - a great area to buy 2nd hand stuff.

I bet you'd get some shock if you compared a new set to what's available secondhand!!!

    I did.

It is about 1/3 or less for my bag

Know where I'm going next time.

The only Thing I would say is, they were used plenty. Plenty bad - a little good :)

A friend of mine had to replace his bag after his car was robbed from outside his front door with the clubs in it. The replacement was covered by his golfsure insurance.

He had bought most of the gear through his club pro and the replacement cost came in at close to €2,500 including clubs which he'd had custom fit, shoes, waterproofs etc. As a hard-core golfer, he wasn't able to think about replacing the car until he had the replacement golf gear sorted out.

    My bag's current worth:

Titleist 910 driver - 120e (if Im lucky)
    Cleveland launcher 4wd-60e
    Titleist 910 5wd - 70
    Titleist 910 21dg hybrid- 60
    Titleist Ap2 712 - 350
    Cleveland 52dg DSG wedge 50
    Cleveland 58dg DSG wedge 50
MD putter with superstoke grip 40

Dont want to think about depreciation rates. All clubs were bought new bar the Cleveland ( and that has a fancy shaft to wasnt given to me!). Also not including other weapons that are currently out of circulation..

On a side note how does that GolfSure insurance work, do you need receipts for everything which would be near impossible unless your changing everything every couple of years and buying new. So much other gear involved such as shoes, bag, rain gear, gloves, balls and all the other smaller items that take a long time to research, purchase and break in. It would be a serious loss to have one's bag/gear stolen so doesn't make for good reflection.

In his case, he had been custom fit by the club pro 12 months earlier so the pro was able to set out an estimated replacement cost which supported the claim.

He said golf sure were very good to deal with. It seems to rely a lot on the honesty of the claim form. You'd be in big trouble if you claimed you had a bag of rbzs and the car was recovered with a bag full of hand me downs.

I think We should all take photos of our sets and bags to have just in case. Maybe even post them here!

Bought all new (to me) clubs in the last 6 months on a fairly tight budget.
King Cobra s9.1 driver 10.5 (could prolly do with a lower loft) €50
    Mizuno mp001 3wood €25
    Titleist 735 cm 3-pw €120
52, 56, 60 deg tiger shark wedges €70 the lot (band new)
    Odyssey 2ball dfx €40

€305 for the clubs. +50 for the bag itself.
