    Hi,

I want to buy a non-boiler stove to heat a large open plan kitchen & living area that measures 45sq.m. The room will have 2 external walls one of which will be almost entirely glass. I have looked at different site calculators and their wattage recommendations vary from 4.5 kw to 9kw.

Can anyone advice which calculator would be the best indicator?

    ground floor

    2.4 metres high
    20 m2 floor area
    9m of cavity wall
    4m2 of double glazed windows

heat loss given @ 2480 watts

approx calculation with the figures given.

generally a stoves quoted heat output is given as a maximum load, which the manufacturers calculate using fuels with high calorific values such as anthracite or coal. therefore i would recommend a 5 - 6kw.

    hope this helps

I would try and go with gas or propane you would be paying 1.80 hour for electric
