How to get Sky on 2nd TV

    Looking for help.
My set-up. I have Sky in Cork, through a cable from the dish connected to a Sky+ box in my lounge. I get Saorview RTE etc, through basic coax cable from aerial on chimney. Have 2 TVs - Panasonic Viera TX-L32C4B, bought Dec 2012 & Samsung Smart TV UE32F4500AK, bought Dec 2013. The aerial cable is plugged into Sky+ box in lounge. I have coax cable going from Sky box to splitter box. From splitter box I have 2 coax cables - one going to Panasonic in lounge- the other going to Samsung in kitchen. The coax cable is the only cable plugged into the Samsung in the kitchen, & I am able to get aerial Saorview & sky on the Samsung through this coax cable. The only way I can get Sky on the Panasonic, is through a scart cable from the Sky+ box, plugged into the Panasonic.
If i move the Panasonic into the kitchen, where the only available cable is the coax cable, I can get the aerial Saorview channells, but I cant get Sky.
I would prefer to have the Smart Samsung in the lounge, in order to access wifi internet on the Samsung in the comfort of the lounge, & have the Panasonic in the kitchen. Is there any way I can get Sky on the Panasonic in the kitchen, seeing that it only accepts the Sky signal through a scart cable. I prefer to leave the Sky+ box in the lounge.

The Sky signal to the kitchen is analogue while the Saorview signal is digital. Have you done an analogue tune on the Panasonic in the kitchen?

How do I do this analogue tune on the Panasonic. Not sure it is the solution. You say, kitchen signals are Sky analogue & Saorview digital - doesnt this apply in the lounge also. I can get Sky on Panasonic in lounge, but only through a scart cable. My problem seems to be, that the Panasonic only accepts Sky through a scart cable - whereas the Samsung will accept Sky through a coax cable.
Is there any scart/coax adaptor or splitter where i could connect coax cable in kitchen into adaptor/splitter, & take 2 cables from the adaptor/splitter, - one a scart cable to plug into Panasonic - the other a coax cable to plug into the coax socket on the Panasonic.

Does the Panasonic have an analogue tuner?

When you use the scart you bypass the analogue tuner. If the TV has an analogue tuner the option to do an analogue scan should be available in the tuning menu, get the manual out.

If OP has Sky+, with dish installed by Sky, they already have a quad LNB. And they aren't going to get subscription channels on the 2nd box, unless they go for Sky multiroom, at extra cost to the current sub.

RF feed from the lounge box makes these freely available to the kitchen TV, albeit not at equal quality to a HDMI or scart feed.

Just do an analogue 'auto setup' on the Panasonic, with the 'coax' cable plugged into it & the Sky box switched on.

    P.39 of the manual.

Thanks Peter. Link to the "manual" does not work.
Not at home now. But I tried what you said last night. When I select analogue as the source, "analogue auto" flashes for a second, then changes to "analogue wide". I did a scan in this mode, with everything connected & turned on - the only channell it found was TV3 - is this because TV3 signal comes in both analogue & digital. The scan found no Sky signal.
My Panasonic remote has 2 buttons for source - one marked AV, which is the source I have to use to watch Sky on the Panasonic in the lounge, connected to the Sky+ box with a scart cable. The other remote source button gives you 2 options - DVB or Analogue. I did the scan using Analogue, but found no Sky signal. My Panasonic manual has a diagram showing the satellite box must be connected to the TV with a scart or HDMI cable (no option for a coax cable in the diagram). My Sky+ box has no HDMI socket. It seems to me the Panasonic was designed to accept Sky signal only through scart or HDMI, & not accepting through coax. I dont know if this makes sense.
My solution might be to run a long scart cable from Sky box in lounge, across the attic, & plug into Panasonic in kitchen. Dont want to make big holes in ceiling for the scart cable. Can a scart cable be cut to fit thro small hole, & rejoined.

Anything with a UHF analogue TV tuner will find the Sky RF output.

'TV' button: select 'Analogue' > 'MENU' button > select 'Setup' > select 'Analogue Tuning Menu' > select 'Auto Setup'.

If you successfully carried out an analogue scan & found an analogue version of TV3, then either that was the channel the Sky box was on at the time or, it's coming from a UPC cable feed. (Although analogue cable could be long gone in Cork, for all I know.)

Another thing: you don't need the 'splitter box' mentioned in your OP. Connect the lounge TV to Sky box RF1 & the kitchen TV to RF2.

Thanks Peter. I will try again tonight when I go home.

Using the splitter is more than halving the signal level to each TV, compared to using a separate RF output for each.

RF2 is the output that works with 'magic eye' remote control senders, allowing control of the Sky box from the 2nd room.

No you don't, ariel is washing powder. You must have an aerial.

Regarding your Panasonic not getting the Sky output. Have you connected a coax between the sky box and the TV? Also disconnect the scart while doing the analogue tune as the scart will auto switch the TV to AV.

He say he can get the Saorview channels on the Panasonic in the kitchen but not the analogue Sky channel with the co-ax connected to the TV.

I did that Analogue scan & it worked. I can now get Sky on the Panasonic in the kitchen through the coax cable.
Peter - it worked also last night when I did the scan, but I didnt realise it - I didnt realise that the TV3 that I got when I did it last night, was coming from Sky
Thanks everyone for your time & help
