    i have a 6 month old limousin heifer with a lame back leg. Looked at it nothing in the hoof but the leg is swollen . Any suggestions on what it might be thanks.

    I'd get her hoof pared, might be an abcess in the foot that only paring will uncover. Tylosin would help to kill the infection also.

    i have a 6 month old limousin heifer with a lame back leg. Looked at it nothing in the hoof but the leg is swollen . Any suggestions on what it might be thanks.
    Could be black leg if it is a new complaint. It would need a big shot of penicilin straight away. does the skin feel crackly

    Sound like fouls, (foul of the foot). Penicillin for few days usually does job, have had to go for something stronger on occasion.

    Is there any split up between the hoof. Could be difficult to spot. If there is then wash it out, spray with iodine and as Blue says then a couple of rounds of penicillin.
