    hi,
i'm thinking of getting rid of sky altogether, and wanted to know if i can buy a box, that would feed my tv a smart tv experience?
i have a smart tv in another room, but i want to keep this tv, as its an ambilight, and instead of the sky box, add a decoder for saorview, freeview/freesat, and that also can record, and also add a smart tv experience if possible?
is it possible, and if so, any recommendations?

    thanks

    Ed

Does the TV have a Saorview tuner?

    Saorview twin-tuner PVR - http://www.walker.ie/products/WP6500TTR-HD.html

    Freesat+ twin-tuner PVRs - http://www.freesat.co.uk/get-freesat/recommended/freesat-plus-with-freetime

Aerial required for Saorview and existing Sky dish will be OK for Freesat.

OP it might be best if you explain what you mean by a "smart TV experience". Is it web browsing you want to do? Most dedicated TV web browsing services are long gone though you can of course plug a PC in and use it as a monitor. For VOD services devices such as an Apple TV or games consoles with access to Netflix might be what you are looking for. If you have Sky changing to Freesat will be no problem, you keep your dish and your existing STB will pick up free-to-air services though you would be better off exchanging it for a dedicated free to air/freesat receiver particularly as Sky+ will no longer work since you cancel.

Overall the question is very broad and some of it is really a discussion for terrestrial and/or satellite rather than this forum.
