Magnet broadband / home alarm issue

I've just moved to Magnet but during the process of upgrading my phone line (which has been dormant for several years) to fibre, an issue has arisen with my home alarm (connected to the phone line). Seems only way around it is to get a phone line/service with Magnet (upgraded line is broadband only)? Anyone else have this issue / resolve it this or any other way?

PS Should also have asked if this will affect my line speed? [Am on Fatpipe 70 but a couple of tests so far show me hitting mid-20's]

Can you not get a GSM dialler for your alarm?

How would your alarm have worked (I assume it's a monitored alarm) if your phone line is dormant?

If you opt for a broadband only line for the fibre service, then your house phone (and thus your alarm dialler) will not work because they disconnect the analogue line service at the exchange. Your broadband will work because it is connected to the cabinet and then on to your provider's network via fibre.

Phone line not in use but alarm connected (not monitored) to dial tone. Per Magnet, new phone line would be VOIP and alarm could be connected to modem?

I still don't see how the alarm could have dialled out if you didn't have a line rental agreement in place.
If you're going broadband only, then you would have to use VoIP or similar and you would need to check with your alarm supplier whether it supports this.
My alarm requires the plain old analogue phone service and works fine alongside the Vodafone fibre bundle. With discounts it can work out at €35 or less per month for 70Mb broadband and 100 mins phone allowance.
