Lads, I have a tipping trailer that is starting to corrode and I was wondering what to paint it with?

I was going to wirebrush it down first and wanted to know if there is a paint thats not too expenisve to just give one coat off that stops rust and leaves a nice finish?

Hammerite seems very dear and a few men have told me its no use compared to what it used to be like

Would I be safer putting on a grey primer first then a blue gloss finish or just buy some blue metal paint of ebay and whack it on?

When restoring machinery I use castle paints I find it very good and hard wearing they do a range of colours and the also have a zinc phosphate primer, the only thing is you have to thin out the paint and primer with cellulose which could leave you light headed !!

forget hammerite, cheaper to put on new sheets of steel nearly!
i'd recommend castle paints too, get the green oxide - looks better than red imo.
2 coats on the outside is needed for a decent finish, castle dries fast so by the time yer finished where u started will be dry!

Cheers lads, yeah that hammerite is wild expensive

Where can you get Castle paint? Had a quick google think there are in Offaly, I'm in the North and not sure where I could get it

Do they do blue? its a blue Kane trailer

I get my paint in my local hardware store but not sure about over the border, they do ford blue as far as I know if that's close to Kane blue !?

got mine in local builders providers, they do blue but its pricier.
give it one coat of oxide n then the blue.

(if u are after the gleaming finish 2 pack paint is what yer after, but then yer looking at fancy breathing masks etc)
