Its not correct to say that nothing has been planned for the 50th. Staff of the Garda College have arranged a celebration whereby surviving members of the classes who transferred on 14th February 1964 have been invited back to the college, and the local community & schools will also be involved. There is a lot of media interest in the story, so it should get a lot of coverage on the day. Stories, photos & artefacts would of course be welcome for the college museum!

Technically the Garda college is only open since 1992. Before that, the Training depot was known as McCan Barracks. The Defence forces still had a presence at the depot until relatively recently, maybe 2005.

The commissioner is down in Templemore to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the college..

Windy for him. Windy for them all. Be interesting to see will there be media coverage.

    Great set up down there.
