Bridesmaids Dresses online - Sizing??

Bit of a random question.. I'm considering buying my Bridesmaids dresses from JJs House online.. I have my eye on something already..

I'm just worried about the sizing as it appears to be an American site (currency is in dollars) and my understanding is that American sizes differ a bit from UK sizes :o

Anyone buy from them before? Did you have a problem with the sizing?

I'd also be interested in people's general experience with online Bridal wear?

    Thanks :)

    It's a Chinese site xzanti.

You can pay extra to have the dresses tailored to the bridesmaids sizes.

Here is a link to some reviews on the weddingbee discussion boards. They seem to be a replica company.

I've been doing a lot of research on the different online sellers and the ones i found had the best reviews were, Jasmine's Bridal, Dressilyme & Babyonline.

I think i'll order my bridesmaids from one of the above as i want 3 very different styles but in the same materials and this will allow me to custom design the dresses without being as expensive as a dressmaker here.

If i were you I'd do a lot of research on the company as some of the chinese manufacturers work can be very shoddy while others is brilliant.

I'd be very wary of buying online tbh. I was a bridesmaid a couple of years ago for my friend. She had 5 bridesmaids and bought Dessy dresses online at a cost of over €100 each. I would be a standard body shape and size 12 fit me but two of the girls were around a size 16 with very large boobs and, even though they measured themselves and followed the size guide, the dresses wouldn't zip up the back. They didn't arrive in time for them to be returned and replaced so we ended up all going into debenhams and trying on dresses there. We were able to get a dress that came in various styles but in the same colour and material so we could all get something that suited our various shapes and sizes.

I took mine to a dressmaker and she put a couple of darts in it for only €15 to make it a bit more 'fitted'. A couple of the other girls did likewise.

If you only have a couple of bridesmaids and they are of standard proportions maybe you would have more luck buying online but I wouldn't chance it after that experience tbh

    With Dessy a 6 is a 10 and an 8 a 12.
Each site is going to be different same as wedding dresses in shops.
Study their size guides and better opting for big and getting it adjusted.

I ordered my dessy dresses online. We got them a size bigger than the girls were just in case either of them put on any weight between when we ordered them and the wedding. In the end, we had to get them taken in but they were absolutely perfect. I also got extra length added on the end in case we needed to add in panels if they were too small.

Exactly. Im BM for my sister and 2 of the BM's are a size 10 so a black sack looks fab on the pair of them. However my sister and myself are a 14 and 18. We had real problems getting dresses to suit us all- we did though in a bridal shop and I can't wait to wear it but there is no way she could have bought online. :D

I'm lucky in that all 3 of my Bridesmaids are in or around the same size 10-12..

I only noticed yesterday.. after I had posted this that there is a pretty comprehensive looking sizing guide on their site.. so hopefully there shouldn't be any problems.. Touch wood :)

I ordered a swatch of the fabric.

Thanks for all the replies :)

Would you mind sharing what site you purchased from?

I ordered a short bridesmaids dress from inwedding.com to my custom measurements. There is a fuller review and a picture on this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057144861&page=2

Thanks, i have a wedding at he weekend that might wear it to. If not i can probably wear it to one of the other 4 weddings i have this year!

I was very happy with it as i had previously had a bad experience buying from a bridal shop when i was bridesmaid for my sisters wedding and i want to avoid that for my own wedding.

I think i will definitely go the route of custom ordering the bridesmaids dresses.

Ordered my BM dresses on Friday from bridesmaids.com. I was lucky as I was in NY recently and they have a studio where you can make an appointment to chat to someone, so I did. The girls I dealt with were lovely. I can't see much difference between the online order system and just dealing with the person by email. I was told to get measurements for the girls and to work out their size - according to the guide I was sent, none of the girls (or me) fit into a particular size category, so as advised I ordered the biggest option for each and we can get them taken in if need be e.g. one girl is a 12 on bust but waist is 8, so I got the 12 to be safe.

I'll post back when they arrive! Fingers crossed there's no disasters...
