Can you search for flights & hotels by price, not travel dates?

    Am helping a retired couple (who are new to the internet) plan a couple of holliers away. They are budget conscious, but they are very, very flexible as to when they travel. They want to get in one sun holiday in the Canaries or Spain and, couple of city breaks away to European destinations.

    Are there websites out there, that let you search for deals on flights and hotels by price, as opposed to you putting in your own travel dates all the time? So far, they are finding it very, very tedious having to search each and every city & hotel by date, just to get a price quote.

    Also, can do you do that with airlines? I have heard that you can search destinations by price with Ryanair. I know that with their current booking set up, you input your own desired travel dates and, they will also show you the prices a couple of days either sides of that. But I was looking for something a bit more broad, that will show you prices for a few weeks at a glance, not just for one. Ta.:)

    www.skyscanner.ie is your best bet there, pick your departure and origin and under dates click "whole year" and you'll then get a calendar view of the cheapest price for every day in the month currently selected which can be changed from a bring down menu, this menu also gives you an overview of the cheapest flights in each month of the year. Can't really ask for better then that!

    Unfortunately they don't have quite as thorough options for hotels but when you've selected the flight dates you want, it'll then offer to show you hotels available for those dates and you can customise the results by price (low to high etc.)
