I'm just wondering, what sort of concession/ loyalty discount do you have with UPC on your account. We have one of their distribution boxes for the rest of the street on the side of our house and as a result get 10 euro off our bill each month. What do you have on your account?

my granny has free upc tv for life as she let them dig up her area outside to run fibre cables and they replaced the ground as it was, but because she let them they gave it to her for free.

Yeah, I sort of feel like wegot the short end of the stick, especially with the amount of time we have to let them in to our back garden to work on the box.

It's a bit more than digging up. You'll probably find that they also have a way leave now - a right to enter her property to maintain the cables they laid.

    €5 off broadband
    €5 off TV
10% a month off Sky Sports. Worked out better than 2 months free or 4 months half-price over 12 months that is.

Free basic tv for life, which amounts to 25 Euro per month discount..

They run their cable from street cab through a duct in my garden to feed our row of houses..

What's the name on that discount? Ours is called a half basic concession. Think at the time they told us that we got tv at half price when they were putting their box up on the wall.

We have a box in our lawn. Should I be asking for something off my bill because of it?

Definitely. Did you sign anything when they were getting it installed? What does the box look like?

It was here when we bought the house.

Oh I'm not sure then. We have a grey box on the side of the house that's about 0.5m x 0.5m. If you haven't signed anything, then it's worth getting in contact and look to get an agreement set up with them. We've had ours for ages so I'm not even sure how you'd go about getting that done. Good luck though.

Have you talked to them about the price increases yet? Bring it up then and see what deal they can do with your package.

Looks like a concrete man hole cover with a pull tab in the centre.

Posted while on the phone, didn't see posters location. Never saw a manhole cover like that used in Dublin. Chorus may have used something like that.

We have a few around the area. Most of the cabling for the street is along the houses just under the gutters, but there are some manholes with UPC written on them.

Well you should check your house purchase, the way leave should be detailed there and what the deal is. There is a possibility is that you are stuck with the way leave without the benefits.
