The States and Cuba

The OH and myself were in Dundrum a few days ago and as we were going by the travel agents we said we would price our honeymoon with them out of interest. Our plan is to do a Caribbean Cruise and then visit Mexico and Cuba. We were then informed that this was impossible as you cannot visit America and Cuba in the one holiday. I have done a good bit of looking around and was certain that we could so I insisted it could be done. I asked could we not fly from Mexico or Nassau to Cuba, but I was then told that Mexico and all the Caribbean Islands are America and that you can't travel from America to Cuba because there is an embargo. At this point I bit my tongue and left as I knew Obama had re introduced the people to people programme for US citizens which allowed travel with a licence so I'd hardly say they have an embargo of the entire place. I must update all my maps and move Mexico from being an independent country into America and Nassau is now moving from being the capital of a British Commonwealth country to being an American City.

you can fly from mexico or canada to cuba

there are very few reasons if your American to be allowed to travel, and theres few flights

if you have family there or education trip, your allowed

you can have difficulty entering usa if you have a Cuban stamp on your passport

That link refers to American residents. I know there is a stringent set of rules for American residents/ American citizens but I am neither

Your passport won't be stamped in Cuba, they stamp the tourist card on the way in and take it when you exit.

You can certainly fly from Mexico and Bahamas direct to Cuba, just not from the US (practically speaking - there are charters and a very small scheduled flight)

I would find a better travel agent who actually knows what they are talking about.

I hadn't even had this particular travel agent in mind but as we were passing I was just going to get a price out of interest. Couldn't believe how ignorant they were on a country they sell holidays to

You're always better to try use a specialist travel agency for a trip like that. At least you'll be sure they have the knowledge and experience of places you might want to go.

Leave those guys in Dundrum for the folk booking their 2015 Falcon all-inclusive in Playa de las Americas.

Yea I think their knowledge base doesn't spread much passed the last minute sun holiday where I don't have to change my money
