Want to change to a van, how much would I get as trade in for BMW 5 series

Hi,
I have a 03 525i e39 top spec with FSH. I'm not sure what kind of van I would like exactly (maybe something like a focus).

Can anyone tell me what I could expect to get for the beamer?

I'd try and sell it privately. There is a market for these cars, even if it is a small market. A decent spec 525i will appeal to an enthusiast a lot more than a dealer.

Sell the Beamer and buy your van with the cash. You are sure to be short-changed if you go down the trad-in route, imho.

Very little. I'd say about 1750, its not the easiest car to sell on.

Around 3k i'd recokon depending on mileage and spec etc.. Have a look on Done Deal etc. for anything similar.

You'd be better trying to sell privately to get the best deal and then have cash to buy the van

Throw it up on adverts, donedeal and the others and see if you get any interest. You can compare the offers to what a dealer will offer you as trade in.

You're always going to be looking at ~60% of the asking price on DoneDeal from a trade in.

You'll find if you car is what you say it is you will have no problem selling it privately. Clean top spec e39s are scarce and there is certainly a market for them. Manual or auto?

On a trade in, very little. I bought a 2004 e39 525i sport auto in perfect nick in october for under 2500, it was advertised for 2850 if i remember correctly. Passed nct a few weeks ago with no work needed. I cant see you getting any more than this for a private sale, nowhere near it for a trade in. Market is small, I love it though prices are on the floor so it will sell if it is well kept because there are others like me

Most of them are too optimistic. 3295 is nearly E60 territory at this stage too.

If it is (near) mint, someone will buy it privately for decent enough money, but it will be more like 2k than 3k
