    Looking to invest in some moving heads ideally 50w L.E.D which i believe to be bright as 250 watt bulb.

    I also was looking at some stairville 250 watt heads mv250h second hand. There seems to be loads of generic versions of this model. My question is as these are fairly old would the have the same effect as a modern L.E.D moving head?

    Starville are Thomann's own brand. While there "ok", they really need to be looked after i.e. flight cased in a hard case not a bag.

    The new LED's are tri/quad colour. Nothing beats a good value discharge/halogen light. The output can be great however LED is really the way to go. Lifetime of the light is 10000's of hours compared to a bulb variant and the heat is lower and they are lighter.

    I've Martin SCX700's and the blow any LED based light on par for the same $$. They are 150w discharge. I've got LED movers. Eurolite TMH20 is one I use, its a dual sided LED mover, very very bright and does compete with the SCX's. Small and lightweight.

    Are you looking for a wash/beam or a spot? If I was buying now I would look at;

    Spots: Showtec Indigo 4600, Eurolite TMH60
    Wash: Eurolite TMH20, Starville MH110
    Beams: ADJ Inno Beam, Indigo Beam, Showtec SX2

    PM me for a video of them in use. Not gonna stick up unless a mod says its cool to do so.

    thank you for your reply.

    the second hand stairvilles come in a hard case.

    I am looking for a spot head for weddings.

    Currently I am interested in the showtec phantom 50 LED head and the stairville equivalent any views?

    I've used the Phantom 50/75. Nice fixtures. IIRC there is no built in macro's so no issue if your just gonna use them on music trigger.

    No worries.

    Say you have two Phantoms. And you want them sweeping left to right. Some lights have macros built into them, basically preloaded movements. Normally assigned to one DMX channel. So as you go through that channel it will give you set movements. Normally a different one for every 15 dmx values up to 255.

    Without them you would have to have a scene with them on the left and the another with them on the right. You would then need to run a show with those 2 sences and use the time fader to set the speed of that chase.

    Macro's are just a way around not having to use shows etc. Much more handier.

    If you plan on using DMX then you will have to use shows if you want them moving a certain way. Other wise you can set the slave/master and reverse the DMX signal on one so they would mirror each other i.e. one goes left and the other right while in music trigger mode with no control over there movement.
