Do Wall stickers cause any damage?

er, short answer, yes and no. A vinyl sticker like that should not cause any damage to a properly plastered and painted wall.

However, if it's not a properly plastered and properly painted, then it can damage the paint when it's removed.
if the walls are in good shape, then go for it.

Only last weekend I remove vinyl stickers that had been in situ since late 2006, and bar one or two tiny patches of paint that were removed, all was fine. Even the stickers still held their stickyness (sp?)

it can go either way. they might be fine and the again the might not. It does depend on the paint and how sticky these stickers are. if you're really worried sprinkle a small amount of talc onto the sticky side, it will stop the stickers forming a strong bond with the wall. The downside of doing this is they might not stick properly at all.
I had to deal with some sticky stickers last week in a rental, they pulled the paint off the walls.

I had some of these and most of them came down no problem. The ones that took a bit of paint off were located above a radiator and I think the heat made them stick to the paint.
