    Hi,
    Never owned a Merc before.
When I turn on my headlights I have no instrument lighting at all, the clocks function but
No clocks light up, no switches, no heater controls etc etc so I am in pitch darkness...
Only bought the car so don't know if it's a problem or something I need to adjust???
    Any help greatly appreciated

First question anyone will ask is did you look at the fuses? If all lights are not working I'd be looking at the fuse 1st.

Ah sorry I forgot to mention that, yes I looked at the fuses, some were in boot and more in engine bay, all seemed ok, I think 1 or 2 had no fuses in them do I fitted fuses just to try and still no joy so I removed them again...

I'm not even sure how you dim the lights or if there is a switch for it

Is there not a fuse box inside the car too? I'm sure there is either under the dash under the steering wheel or if you open the door and look at the side of the dash that is blocked with the door closed, is there a cover you can take off?

I think I have sorted it, may wait untill it's dark to know for sure lol..
I've never had a merc before as I said and the way they lay out there fuses is a bit stupid... Checking in the engine bay on the layout card there was a list of fuses for instrument lighting... But it refers you to the boot for some of them... You go to the boot and the layout card there will refer you to the under bonnet fuse box... Lol... Why can't they just have one box???
Anyway I think someone had removed a fuse or mixed up a fuse when replacing as there seemed to be a blank space where the layout card said there should be a fuse... I thought maybe it was left blank as perhaps I didn't have an optional extra of some sort but I tried a fuse in it and I think... Fingers crossed that it's working now... I think I seem a flicker of light anyway :)

    Thanks for the help

Yep, used the car last night.. It was like a Boeing 747 for lights :)

A fuse had been taken out or moved is my prognosis :)
