TL100A Arms won't go down

Lads, bought a New Holland TL100A there from England. Got it home and the back arms only go down when weight is applied to them. Arms go up no bother but just won't go down without getting out of the cab and applying pressure to them. There is no kink in the rams and its well greased. A man told me its a safety feature but surely that can't be right?

    Any ideas?

    Tractor is 2005

We have a TL90A with exactly the same issue
a NH service guy told me to take the ram a part and lube the seal and scraper seal i think, but i never bothered, i kept putting some wd 40 on the ram and it freed it enough to come down under its own weight but very slow
I have a feeling it could be something to do with oil flow but not sure

Have you got the second lift lever down all the way?

Is there a height setting switch for ploughing built into the panel beside the hand throttle? If so, release this and the lift should drop quickly.

I'd go for this, guy that works for keeps me making this mistake. He never ploughed so doesn't realise

Thanks Reilig, yeah I have both levers fully down

I'll have a look tonightwhen I get home from work and check for a height setting

On another point there was a setting for release when standing outside the cab and working at the back - I played about with it but it didn't make any difference unless someone else knows something to do with that..

If that button is pressed in it wont go down at all
i think he is saying the problem is the arms wont go down without weight
Mine wouldnt even drop quick with a yard scraper on
but it will when theres a ton of fertilizer no problem

There is a lever on the right hand side if you are standing behind the tractor its like its threaded into the top of where the lift arm goes on, i dont know what it does and the manual is not very clear either, unless thats something to do with it
Its a pain when getting bales out of the field after wrapping, you have to have the lift dropping ages before you get to the bale
So if theres a solution i would be glad to hear it too

Is that the levelling box? So that implement behind isn't tilted off to one side. Now it may not be.

Just lubricate the lift rods for the pickup hitch and the lift should drop without any weight on it. That works for me anyway.

Had a mechanic out on Saturday to look at it

Seals needed replaced on the ram, rust had got into the back of them and wasstopping them coming down under their own weight

So fixed now, they drop at a slow enough rate with no weight but at least they go down on their own now and when you have link box on it goes down a lot quicker
