Buying a (custom) bike in Dublin

    Hi all

I want to but a new bike, under the bike to work scheme and I want something a little different :)

I'd like something like a single-speed 'style' bike, simple lines etc. but with a 3 or 5 speed hub. This can be fitted afterwards if possible as a customisation.

Does anyone know of any bike shops in the Dublin area that would sort me out in this respect?

    Thanks!
    Ciaran

A good few shops are stocking Pashley's. The Guvnor, Countryman or Speed 5 could be up your alley. They are rather pricey though.

If you wanted something a little bit cheaper and didn't mind not using the BTW scheme, there's a chap on Adverts selling restored old frames that might appeal. He seems to be pretty handy with chopping and changing parts too (No connection to him other than a friend of mine purchased a bike and I was tempted) His Adverts profile is here - http://www.adverts.ie/member/598105

Dara posts here sometimes. He's unreasonably passionate about Sturmey Archer and builds excellent wheels.

Has he moved? Shop has been closed last few times I've been past.

Nope. I was in with him earlier. He made me coffee..... or I should say, offered to make it and then told me to make it myself. :)

Yeah the Pashley Countryman is amazing looking, but waaay too pricy.
