Can TMJ cause swallowing difficulties? Trying to figure something out

I'm not seeking medical advice of any kind but getting answers to these questions would help when I talk to my doctor. I think I may have TMJ.

So after long stressful period I have been dealing with symptoms over the past year such as:
    • stiff/sore neck on right side
    • jaw pain on right side,
    • shoulder pain on right side,
    • headaches
    • dizziness
    • intolerance to dairy
    • chronic pain and nosebleeds in right nasal passage
    • ear pain on right side.
    • throat swelling up making me incapable of speaking properly.
    • food/liquids going up into nose instead of down throat when swallowing.

Blood test was fine, endoscopy was fine, abdominal ultrasound was fine, allergy specialist found allergy to dust and feathers, physio found muscle knots in upper back and neck.

    * Eliminated dairy and found im lactose intolerant.
    * Taking 24hour anti-histamines and inhaling a spray for rhinitis daily but doesn't seem to be doing anything.
    * My other symptoms I think they may be TMJ? When I bite the right side of my jaw feels like it's being squeezed - the upper teeth don't seem to be long enough.
    * I'm fine when I wake up, it gets worse gradually over the day.

I think it hinges on this question: Can TMJ cause swallowing difficulties? As in food not going (or feeling) like it's reaching my stomach? And sometimes going the other up my nose (which I believe is also causing my rhinitis).

    Thanks

TMD is a mysterious thing and I have listed the possible symptoms associated with it from your list. But looking as it I would say that there is another cause, best look for medical advice.
    • stiff/sore neck on right side (YES)
    • jaw pain on right side, (YES)
    • shoulder pain on right side, (NO?)
    • headaches (YES)
    • dizziness (NO)
    • intolerance to dairy (NO)
    • chronic pain and nosebleeds in right nasal passage (NO)
    • ear pain on right side. (possibly)
    • throat swelling up making me incapable of speaking properly. (NO)
    • food/liquids going up into nose instead of down throat when swallowing.(NO)

I had pain in my shoulders - radiating from the neck, into the shoulders, upper back and even my upper arms at times. I suffered terribly with dizziness. I had pain and congestion in my nose and across my face but never a nosebleed. Ear pain - abso-bloody-lutely and plenty of it! They almost always felt blocked too. I had some difficulty speaking properly but not from swelling in the throat. The joint was catching and so I would have a mini-stutter from time to time. No food intolerances, no nosebleeds and no problems with food going the wrong way. For me it's worse in the morning as I clench at night time, so I can still be a little stiff in the mornings even now.

I hope that is helpful - that's my experience with it anyway. Everyone's is different tho. I don't know what you have or don't have. If you think you might have a problem with your TMJ it's best to get your dentist to take a look.
