VW mechanic in Cork City

    Hello everyone,

    I have a 2001 Vw golf Mk4 which needs a couple of minor things done :

    - Central console replacement (the plastic surrounding the gear shift and ashtray has cracked, causing gear shift boot to lift up)

    - Add remote locking to the car (previous owner only gave me 1 key without remote). Car has central locking already.

    Can anyone with similar experience suggest a place to buy the central console? Or suggest a good/reasonably priced place I can go to get this sorted? Any info appreciated.

    Centre console is an easy fix. Any decent mechanic can do this. Des Golden or Ardfallen would do this handy. I use a lad who works for himself pm me if you want his details
    A locksmith or vw dealer is probably your best bet for the key.

    Thanks for the reply! Do you think those mechanics or your man would be able to supply the centre console, or would I have to buy it somewhere myself?
    Also, would those 2 garages you mentioned be cheap comparatively or on the pricier side?

    Any garage will get the part, probably through a main dealer. Just ask them beforehand.

    They wouldnt be cheap garages. If you want cheap then your going to be going for a lad working for himself or something smaller. I can give you the details of the lad I use if you want.
