    I'm looking for some advise. I'm looking to buy a diesel car for 2-4k. I'm hoping to get a 1.6l for cheaper tax. Hoping to get one around 100k Miles around 2006/2007. Was thinking of 407 but flexible on tat. Basically I am looking for opinions on cars which are available to me ie reliability etc

    2-4k budget 2007 407 1.6hdi what could go wrong.

    Tbh if reliability is your main concern buy an older vag 1.9tdi the likes of a skoda octavia for example. Believe me buying a 1.6hdi engine with a tight budget with high miles just to save on tax is just going to be trouble.

    The 1.6hdi got better as the years went on. That year is the early models. And even full service history isnt a guarantee as the interval was too long.

    The 2l were much better
