    Religion in schools
"Quinn also said the religion must remain an important part of the primary school education but said that some elements of religious teaching could be cut back to make time for greater focus on literacy and numeracy. "

    Well, that didn't take long!!

They just don't know what to do really...Is there going to be a Dept of Ed official on the BOM of every school in Ireland now!!!
from listening to PAt Rabbitte on radio 1 on Sunday it sounded as if the state would have to play a bigger part in the schools in light of the O'Keef european ruling. It would also appear that Minister Quinn was anticipating this ..hence the 'survey' of parents attitudes to religion in schools a month or two ago....
Like everything else the State don't mind handing over the cheque to charity/religious organisations..(think of CRC!).. but when it comes to taking responsibility and running something....consultants abound...

It seems to be a policy of soundbites with no substance.

Never going to happen, schools can't pay for heat or light, never mind CCTV

+ what would the dept do with all the persistent troublemakers who aren't part of the teaching staff that now have hours of documented proof of their misbehaviour built up…...

doubt they would be able to pay for all the alternate education they would have to provide.

In a way I wouldn't mind them putting cameras in, they might be forced to do something to give us a decent working environment or is that naive of me…would they just continue to unfairly target the weakest link?

They are in my classroom anyway.

All intrinsically motivated. I just facilitate the learning :)

Aside from the unwarranted cost, why is it concerning?

Even Quinn wouldn't be able to fit that many buzz words in one sentence. A job in politics awaits you
