Irish motor programme.

Given the sometimes woeful standard of home grown TV, I wonder what sort of job RTE or TV3 might make of a "Wheeler Dealers" programme. My personal favourite of the crop is Mark Williams "Car is Born" / "Reborn".

Top Gear has its moments, but it strays so far off track just to appeal to a wider audience, it loses its way, and doing a review on a €200.000 car isn't going to serve me personally, very well.

Fast and Loud also falls into the same category of general entertainment, with little basis in reality, and so on and on.

So, what would a good Irish equivalent consist of? Who would present it? What would the general content be? A running resto, followed week by week.
Then, general viewers questions addressed and answered, with a "How To" section.
Reviews of present day, everyday cars.

    Any thoughts?

The only thing that might work is a Nostalgia section in Ear To The Ground featuring a Nissan Bluebird resto. Oh and, tax tax tax diesel tax, Conor Faughnan tax the M50 tax tax... :D

This has the potential to morph into a whole new thread!! "Stars and their Cars". Did your car ever feature in a programme, advert, photo shoot? Does it appear on Google street maps? Did it once belong to a criminal mastermind?

I actually knew someone who ( unwittingly) bought a 1600E from a rather shady character many years ago. He could never drive it anywhere without being followed, pulled over, questioned, by the boys in blue. Still, better that than the boys in balaclavas! It took quite a while before the authorities amended their database.

    Anyway, I digress.......................
