Help setting up router

    Hi All,

I have UPC but due to crap wireless range i've got them to deconsolidate the modem / router in the horizon box and they sent me out a new modem.

The wireless is better on this but still not as good as my old TP-Link router so again disabled the wireless so just use this as a pure modem.

I've connected the technicolor modem to my TP-Link router and everything is working fine, good range and speed.

The problem i now have is trying to open ports to get my NAT to open for Xbox. http://support.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live

    Technicolor - 192.168.0.1
    TP-Link - 192.168.1.1

I've given my xbox a static IP of 192.168.1.60 and set the forwarding to above ports but it is still set to Moderate.

i followed below (this worked perfectly when just on horizon)
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056029020

Would anyone know what i'm doing wrong? i presume its something to do with linking the tp-link to technicolor modem?
would i need to disable DHCP or anything??

sorry bit a of noob here.

    Thanks,

Im pretty sure it wont work. NAT is the system responsible for matching ports inside and outside your network and in this case you have whats known as "double NATing" as both the TP and Technicolor are performing NAT.

What you need to do is to bridge the Technicolor, but it doesnt support it. Only the EPC3925 does. That or put the Technicolor into "AP Mode" where it doesnt route, only provide wifi. This would give working NAT, good wifi but you'd lose any extra functions the TP has.

    thanks for this,
will have a look at the 'AP Mode' but will probably just abandon the TPLink router.

    Cheers,

I've been struggling with this issue for the last couple of years at my parents house while 360 gaming. It seems to depend on what game i'm playing though.

I feel your pain. My NAT is 'moderate' and every now and then I enter a party/game and someone else in it happens to be incompatible with my internet and ZAP, I get kicked.

    Infuriating!
