    Hi,

I just bought a car in from the UK. I have an appointment with the VRT people for next week.

After this does my car need an NCT test?? It is less than 4 years old..

No, its NCT isn't due if it is younger than 4 years. Not due until it's 4th birthday

However if once your car is 3.5 year old, you can do NCT test, as first NCT can be done up to 6 months in advance.

    Thanks for the info,

With regards to the car registration/ownership, do I need to send any document anywhere or do I wait until after the VRT inspection?

The registration is taken care of during the VRT inspection.

Just to make you aware that with an imported vehicle, the "anniversary" date used to calculate from when the NCT is due is the date it is registered here in Ireland (i.e. the day you pay your VRT), and not the date it was first registered abroad.
