Can anyone tell me which company Amazon uses for delivery in Ireland, is it An Post, DHL, UPS etc... or does it vary? Thanks!

Varies. An Post usually for books/CDs. There's also Marketplace sellers who self-ship and that can be anyone.

Well what I'm ordering comes from Amazon themselves. Just wondering because I've had issues with UPS before. If it's An Post that's perfect because even if I miss them the depot is only around the corner, but I've had nothing but trouble with UPS in the past.

They also use I-Parcel, who's agents in Ireland are Fastway Couriers.

I always get my items using free super saver delivery and get them through an post no matter what size the item is, as I've made 3 complaints about delivery using couriers.

An Post is my preferred method of delivery, always with me in three days.

I-Parcel takes a week, seems to sit a few days in the UK before being handed over to Fastway Ireland.

Their courier for tech stuff anyway is i-parcel who are AWFUL. I bought a bluetooth keyboard from their UK depot and it took weeks to come. I tracked it and it went

depot-somewhere in scotland- holland- scotland- kent-dublin.

    ?????????????????

Friend of mine ordered a kindle 10 days before Christmas with "guaranteed" 5 day delivery. It finally arrived in January.

Be prepared to wait if it's i-parcel!

If you order now or within a few days and it is in stock and "sold by Amazon" then it should arrive. Some items are sent from Ireland, some items are sent via royal mail and an post which is usually good, other items are sent via iparcel and depending on the day you order the items can be left in the Amazon dispatch area for up to a week waiting on despatch/collection by iparcel.

why "hardly an post"? An Post are the largest parcel delivery service in Ireland. -i ship over 10,000 parcels a year through them and they get delivered next day - and spme are quite large parcels

Before I purchased an Amazon Prime subscription and started using Parcel motel for deliveries Amazon delivered to me in Ireland using I-Parcel (Fastway), AnPost and UPS. Books/CD's/small items were AnPost, electronics via I-Parcel and UPS for some larger items.

A recent larger item (which I ordered to Ireland as it's too big for PM) was delivered via UPS Standard (2 days), but it was free shipping as it was FREE Super Saver Delivery.

So it varies is the short answer, however using prime/parcelmotel is my current preferred way for items that fit into the parcelmotel locker as it's extremely fast.

The last two items I bought were delivered by An Post. The last arriving just today.

The only thing I don't like about An Post is that they leave the item in the porch (behind sliding-door) in plain view for anyone to see. Last week they left it standing up with Amazon all over the box and didn't even knock on the door. Today the again left it in the porch with nobody home. This was computer equipment that was fairly expensive.

I sent An Post an email last week to see if this is normal practice and they said it didn't have to be signed for but they would never leave it in an unsecured area. But same thing happened again today.

Think I will use parcel motel from now on.

Purchased a mix of small and large items paid for standard delivery in hope of getting quickly now they have dispatched by Anpost today any chance that I'd get before weekend?

    Chance, yes. Guaranteed no.

If they dispatched today they should be with An Post in the DMC in the very early morning tomorrow. It usually takes a day from there to most places in Ireland. I have, once, received an item next day that I ordered at ~9am, dispatched that afternoon and arrived the next day,

If you spend over £25 I think, then yes it is but you have to select super saver delivery.

We always use super saver delivery because paid for delivery is not worth it.

Mix of an post and couriers (ups/fastway)

Had a very large box delivered by an post the other day but a really slim small one by ups lol.

Always difficult to say who the courier will be had two items both Fulfilled by Amazon in the last fortnight one a HDD about worth about €90 came via An Post (2 working days) and another a small camping stove costing about €130 came with iParcel and Fastways in 3 working days. Books and we get a lot nearly always come with AnPost. Had one item lost with iParcel and a couple of others that have taken 9-10 working days.

If the courier (An Post, etc.) arrived when you were out -- would they try to deliver a second and third time? Would they also leave a note stating they missed you?

In my experience - always a note.

Then you go and collect it.

    Hi nompere, I see.

An Post have a depot - but where would you collect if the courier was not An Post?

You would collect at the depot of whatever courier delivered it. If you don't know the courier then you may wait to find out.

Iparcel / Fastway are the "Ace Ventura" of couriers. The absolute pits.
