Best way to get tickets for 6 nations

Every year I watch the 6 nations either at home, or in the pub. I've never been to a game, but I'd love to go.

I hear everywhere that only people that a member of a rugby club can get tickets.

    Is this the only way?

If it is, how do I join a rugby club, I don't play rugby myself, nor do I want to.

Is there such thing as a membership that will charge a small fee, allow me to be a member and only show up if I want to buy tickets?

If so, do I go to my local rugby club, or do I do it online through the IRFU website?

Or is there another way to get tickets?

    Ticketmaster.

But, you have to be 'on the ball'.

There are a few threads on here about 6 nations tickets, have a read through them.

    Thanks for that.

Probably too late for this year, but typically how far in advance would they be on ticketmaster?

Normally the tickets come out in early January, but you have to be quick.

    Thanks for that P.C.

I'll need to be really quick next January with the English and French games at home.

    Thanks again :)

Best option is to join the supporters club - better chance of scoring tickets through them rather than ticketmaster, although the seats can vary in quality a lot.

You will have better luck with the French game.
The English game will sell out easily.

If I do join a rugby supporters club, it will only be to get tickets for the good/big matches.

What kind of club is the best to join? A local club? Or one like Leinster or Munster, or even Ireland?

You might be able to get a ticket for the Italy game, especially if we lose one of the next two games. If you have any friends who are members of rugby clubs, they might be able to help.

I don't know anybody in a rugby club, that's why I have to go about it myself. :)

Ah ok, tickets aren't really that hard to get for most games, even if they're sold out. Four of us went to Cardiff last year and we all managed to pick up tickets, we went round the cafe where we were having breakfast and picked up two and then in a bar picked up two more. So if you live in Dublin, just head in to bars two hours before a game and you'll usually pick one up.

Ticketmaster is great but you really need to be on the ball. Think you can set up alerts. You can also join the supporters club on the irish rugby website. 50 euro joining fee for 12 months and you can then purchase tickets for different categories. You don't get to choose the actual seat though.

I joined the Ireland supporters club in May.....to celebrate Joe Schmidt's appointment as head coach! I have got tickets for all matches so far - got four for the autumn internationals and two for each of the six nations. Seats are mixed - we had great seats yesterday, but next weekend we will be in the corner. I needed to be right on the ball for the ticket sales - mouse at the ready at 10 a.m. for the autumn international three-match pack. But I would say that it has been well worth the 50 bucks to join the supporters club.

Sorry should have been a bit clearer - the irish rugby supporters club

I got two very decent seats in the East Upper on the Thursday before the Scotland game. Ticketmaster also had them the week before. The seats that went on sale appeared to be considerably better than some of those offered to the supporters club btw.

The Italy game may be your next opportunity to bag a seat on Ticketmaster, so keep a close eye.

Tickets that go up on TM tend to be returns, either from clubs or from the visiting union.

Generally though, there's little chance of Eng or Fra tickets going up on TM each year. But as posted earlier, asking about in the pubs around Lansdowne Road will generally net you a couple of tickets, though not necessarily together.

I've had success getting tickets in Searsons, Scruffy Murphy's and the Horse Show House in the past and only ever paid face value.

    Don't buy of scalpers please!!!!!

Do the supporters club have a decent allocation of tickets for away games? Any idea on the chances of getting them for the France game at this stage? Also I'd be looking for three so just wondering if there is a limit?

Become an active member of your local rugby club. Loads of roles (some require rugby knowledge, alot dont), a good social life and access to tickets. Its a win win situation.

No buying/selling tickets on forum. Advise on how/where to buy or sell tickets is fine however.

You're always guaranteed to pick up Scotland vs Ireland games at Murrayfield on the SRU website. And usually quite reasonably priced.
